Light Keeper
A downloadable game
About:
Light Keeper is a new survival open-world game focusing on immersive and exploratory gameplay.
The game puts you in the role of Light Keeper, who has come to a dangerous area to help survivors escape. Your goal is to acquire items in the open world and complete certain objectives that will help you build a walkie-talkie to call for help and finish the game.
Support and release date:
The game is currently in development and the expected release date is in the summer of this year. Although I've managed to do many things myself or using other assets so far, the game cannot be completed without spending money on further development. There are still certain things that need to be completed before everything comes together:
- Sound effects and background music
- Additional assets primarily for buildings and nature
- NPC icons
- UI
- Marketing
- Other...
I will be glad for any financial support. The game will be released on Steam and itch for 10 euro. No matter how much you send, your help will contribute to the development and completion of the game.

Key game mechanics:
- The game won't hold your hand and tell you anything. Light Keeper is aimed at hardcore gamers and its primary inspiration comes from Darkwood.
- All of the main objectives will be shown to you in the journal at the very beginning of the game. Your goal is to find and complete them through the open world, and it's up to you what approach you take in completing the given objectives
- You have to take care of the survivors, you have to keep everyone's need for water and food above a certain level so they don't die, as well as their reputation, which you affect by doing side activities.
- The survivors' camp is attacked every night. You can hide several survivors in the camp underground to completely protect them. However, not all of them will fit. You have to return to the camp at night to defend it. You have to decide who gets how much food and who goes to the bunker for the night. You have to manage your time properly so you can get all the supplies you need to survive while returning to camp to help the survivors. It is not compulsory to return for the night, but staying out overnight can be very dangerous because huge amount of monsters spawns.
- Light Keeper aims for complete freedom in what you want to do. The entire map is open and accessible from the very beginning. The more you explore, the more you come across interesting areas and the more loot you get. Theoretically, you can finish the game under one hour, but play the game for 10 hours depending on your approach.
- Light Keeper focuses on inventory management. You have little space and can easily be overloaded with weight. You have to decide whether to take food, water, character upgrade parts, new weapons, workbench upgrades, or story progression items with you to camp.
- Light Keeper aims for immersive environments, attention to detail, and distinct areas such as forests, gardens, swamps, and more.
- At the beginning you get an empty map and all the individual areas only appear on the map when you find it. Also, you can't see your location so you are forced to know where you are.
- The world is full of dangerous monsters, people, minigames, other NPCs, puzzles and easter eggs.
- When you die, all or some of your loot is left on the place. You respawn at the camp location.
Difficulties:
- Normal - you can die how many times you want, the loot dropped upon death is randomized
- Adventurer - 5 lives, when you die for the fifth time, the game ends, you drop all your loot upon death
- Light Keeper - only 1 chance to complete the game
